I play house-league soccer as a goalie. I enjoy being the "keeper" because of the responsibility that it entails. No matter how well or how poorly my team plays, the ultimate responsibility for keeping the ball out of the goal net is mine. At the end of the game I cannot blame anyone else for the goals that got past me. I must learn from errors and become a better keeper.

Running as an independent election candidate is much the same. While I must still rely heavily on a strong team, the ultimate result is my responsibility. I cannot blame a political party for bad messaging, nor can any political party claim the success that belongs to you, the citizens of Bruce-Grey. When I made my decision to run independent of a political party, I didn't know what the consequences would be. I made the decision to do what is right for this region; putting you first and rejecting the self-serving nature of partisan politics. It seems I've touched a nerve in a great many people who also feel that our partisan political system is failing the voter. If this includes you, then I welcome you to participate in changing things for the better. 

Goalies need a great team, and I invite you to join mine. This election campaign will be all about listening to you, the voter, and campaigning on the things that will matter to the future of the Bruce-Grey region.
