Bruce Grey Owen Sound Independent Candidate Shane Jolley is taking matters into his own hands.

After a few campaigns with the Green Party, Jolley is running as an independent with his "Taking Responsibility" platform.

At Tuesday's all-candidates debate in Meaford, Jolley outlined some of his priorities for the upcoming provincial election.

Jolley feels he needs to take a stand on the issue of representative democracy.

He says citizens should be the one's dictating what is being done at Queen's Park, rather than politicians dictating what the public should do.

Jolley says his "Taking Responsibility" message can be seen throughout his campaign...since he's not using any public tax dollars during his run, and is cutting down on election signs that litter the community.

He notes since he is not binded by any party loyalty, so he can make decisions that represent the best interests of his constituents.

Jolley feels that too many party back benchers just go along with the wishes of their party, and don't listen to the voters.

Jolley tells Bayshore Broadcasting News he is overwhelmed by the amount of support his campaign has received from the people of the riding.

He adds it's time for the Bruce-Grey community to assert itself, and bring our unique rural needs and demographics to the forefront.
